SEA Green

TONIGHT the Pasadena City Council will meet again and hopefully vote to spay and neuter all dogs and cats over the age of 4 months instead of discriminating and singling out pit bull terrier and pit bull terrier like dogs. Please join us and support all the pitties!

Opposing BSL at the Pasadena City Council Meeting Speech:

Good Evening Council Members,

I’m sorry for being so nervous. I am not one to speak in public, but my personal discomfort is nothing compared to the enormity of this issue and I feel strongly against discrimination.

I wanted to…

FixFest will be a new addition to WorldFest this year! On may 18th at Woodley Park for WorldFest and throughout the City of LA, FixFest will offer FREE spay and neuters for cats and dogs. In addition to a free fix, you will receive a FixFest goodie bag, and one free admission to WorldFest!

Happy Foster Friday!

Image 1: ”Will you be my foster??? It’s Foster Friday and I need a foster mom or dad!” Harvey is good with dogs and kids, he’s house an crate trained, and walks well on leash! If you are interested in fostering or adopting Harvey check out his page on Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California http://www.bassethoundrescue.org/hounds/harvey/

Image 2: Smokey is available for adoption thru Boxer Rescue of LA!! Smokey is like the lovable wildfire mascot bear that reminds us to not play with matches. He is kind of goofy and goes with the flow. He is playful with other dogs. He currently plays with humans like they were a dog so older kids are best. He currently has a bit of a hand and foot fetish which we are working on redirecting. Smokey is happy to please and eager to learn. His long natural tail is always going a hundred miles an hour. Smokey wants to be your teddy bear. http://www.boxer-rescue-la.com/dogs/smokey_feb13.html

Image 3: Betty is just a darling little girl - we think she looks like a 1940’s movie star! She’s between 1 and 2 years old. She gets along with other cats just fine and likes people too!! Check out Betty’s adoption profile with Stray Cat Alliance: http://www.adoptapet.com/pet/10157551-los-angeles-california-cat

Foster Friday Valentines!

Image 1: Beautiful Ariel! She is a bit shy at first but her beauty and sweetness will win you over. Please give this baby a chance at a great home. She’s about 4 years old and would get along well with other cats or do fine with a loving person who is often at home. Check her out at Stray Cat Alliance: http://www.adoptapet.com/pet/1723147-los-angeles-california-cat

Image 2: Can you taste the love in the air??? Well Rizzo can and has one simple quest in life, love and more love. Technically that is two quests, but Rizzo does not have a head for numbers, his most endearing quality is his heart which is ready to love and trust. Come visit Rizzo’s friends at Boxer Rescue LA in the adoption area at WorldFest! http://www.boxer-rescue-la.com/dogs/rizzo_aug12.html

Image 3: Look at this beautiful girl!! Better than flowers for Valentines day! Blossom is a total purr-box. She will snuggle in your arms when you pick her up - she loves human contact and to be held. She is available for adoption thru Stray Cat Alliance http://www.adoptapet.com/pet/8775331-los-angeles-california-cat

Image 4: Is Lucky Fred your true love??? He’s looking for a forever home that will appreciate this fine specimen of pure 8-year-old male hunky hound love! Happy Valentines day from Lucky Fred!! For more info check out his page: http://bassethoundrescue.org/homeless-hounds/lucky-fred/

Happy HUG a Vegetarian Day!! Lots of HUGS for ALL!!!

Happy HUG a Vegetarian Day!! Lots of HUGS for ALL!!!

I find this very interesting. I do like how teas and herbs are included on the pyramid as this is not typically something that is mentioned. I find how the sections are divided to be a little deceiving, as by the numbers wouldn’t healthy fats be below grains, pastas and beans. Subsequently, soy gets its own row and as Kineseology stated below, soy is processed and contains excess amounts of estrogen. Soy should spit the row with another less processed similar alternative. Typically the food pyramids does not follow my diet, however this one I find to be more similar to my actual diet. Anti-Inflammatory food are important to me and i will be keeping the pyramid above in mind when planning future meals.
kineseology:

Dr. Weil’s Anti-Inflammatory Food Pyramid
What do you think? Does this look like your diet?
Some of my observations:
No red meat
Whole soy foods (most are still processed and contain excess estrogen)
Pasta? Aren’t high starch complex carbohydrates inflammatory?
Supplements? If you’re eating correctly, shouldn’t all essential vitamins and nutrients be included in your diet?
